Photography with a little more understanding

A SPACE FOR EVERY KIND OF MIND

AUTISM FRIENDLY PHOTOSHOOTS

MY WORLD:
EVIE & CARTER!

This one is personal to me.

My nephew was diagnosed with autism when he was four years old. He’s 16 now, and growing up alongside him has given me a personal connection to the autism and neurodivergent community that means so much to me.

I’ve learned that comfort, communication and connection can look different for everyone. Eye contact might not always feel comfortable. Someone may need a little extra time to warm up. Certain sounds, environments or directions may feel overwhelming. And sometimes the best thing I can do is simply give someone space to be themselves.

Being an autism-friendly photographer doesn’t mean I offer separate “special needs” sessions or photograph you differently. It means I come into every session with patience, flexibility and an understanding that there is no one “right” way to show up in front of my camera.

You never need to apologize to me for stimming, needing a break, avoiding eye contact, feeling overwhelmed or simply needing something done a little differently.

You and your family are welcome exactly as you are.

WHAT AUTISM-FRIENDLY MEANS HERE

  • No forced eye contact

• Breaks whenever needed

• Clear & simple directions

• Patience while warming up

• Flexibility when plans change

  • No pressure to “perform” for the camera

Kind words

"I loved this! Madison was great to us during our family session. I was nervous that it would be hard for my son because he is Autistic. But he did so well! Thank you for being understanding and kind during the session!"
